There is a zen technique to control emotions called “The Lake Meditation.” Imagine your mind as a calm, clear lake. When emotions arise, it’s like a stone being thrown into the water, causing ripples and waves. Instead of trying to fight or suppress these emotions, allow them to exist like the ripples on the surface of the lake. Recognize them, but don’t let them disturb your inner peace. With time, the ripples will fade, and the lake will return to its tranquil state.
This technique helps you acknowledge and accept your emotions without letting them overwhelm you. By focusing on returning to a state of calm, you can better manage and control your emotional responses.
