‘Don’t use thinking to avoid feeling’. You don’t have to make sense of your emotions right away. Trying to make sense of feelings (intellectualizing) gives you a false sense of control. This stops you from actually feeling your feelings. So, they never go away you get stuck.
Instead, let yourself feel the feelings first - name them + release them (cry, write, talk, move). Then, try to figure out why you feel it, what you can do to feel better and how you can do that.
