The most worked technique for getting rid of something is to replace it with something new.

For example, don’t tell your mind to not think about an apple. That’s what exactly it’ll do. Instead tell your mind to think about an orange or something.

Give your mind to think about something else. Your useless thoughts will automatically disappear.
