DOPAMINE DETOX

Before going into the topic written above I’ll just quickly tell you guys what dopamine exactly is :-

It’s actually a neurochemical, it is one of the many feel-good chemicals in the brain.
But our brain’s relationship with dopamine is a lot more complicated than you think.

Have you ever wondered why your brains wants what it wants? Like you know studying is gonna help you build your future and fulfill your dreams but you’re still gonna choose social media over it you ever wondered why? Ik ik you’ll say it feels nice and intresting and so on but have you ever wondered why it feels this way?
DOPAMINE is the driving force behind wants and cravings it compels you to do what you wanna do. It is kinda like a drug for our brain the more our brain recieves it the more pleasure and good we feel.

So about the dopamine detox, I’m not an expert but I’m a screwed up kid myself and I’ve tried this well it worked for me it was very hard at first but eventually got better and helped me a lot.

How you can perform dopamine detox :-

1. You’ll have to choose 1 or 2 days in a week on which you will not use your phone you will not listen to music you will not socialize at all
2. You can go out alone for a walk, read a book, draw, sleep, study but don’t do anything except for this

Let’s take an example :-
A man who drinks almost regularly won’t get drunk easily. But a man who doesn’t drink at all will get drunk in just a drink or two.

Just like this if your brain is used to higher amounts of dopamine then it will require more of this neurochemical to feel good to feel satisfied to feel good! But this dopamine detox will help your brain adjust to normal levels of dopamine now don’t get me wrong it will not increase or decrease the level of dopamine in your body it’s just gonna help you adjust!

NOTE :- I don’t know if this is gonna work for people with ADHD or other medical issues but it won’t hurt to give it a try :)
