It depends on how you ended things. If things didn’t end on a good note and if the last conversation you had wasn’t very pleasant, you can totally skip it. However, in my opinion, birthdays are special days and a simple happy birthday does no harm. :)

Haha I’ve been through very similar situations, but it’s okay if you are on good terms. If not then it’s better to maintain some distance :)
