Hi, I am feeling scared because my granddad is over 70 and has symptoms of Covid 19 so I am really worried about him. What should I do to calm myself down?

Oh no, This must be so worrisome for you. My grandmother, who lives with us is over 80 years old. So, I can understand how you must be feeling.
If I were in your position, I would lose my sense of calm for a while for sure. However, realising, that keeping a positive and pragmatic attitude in this situation is key, I would try to attain that by:
- Looking at ways of recovery and good statistics and reports
- Creating a lighter environment by talking to my granddad in a non-serious way, trying to cheer him up and keep his spirits up in new, fun and different ways
- Classifying things into those that I can control vs those that I cannot, and learning to make peace with the latter
If youβre worried at first, allow yourself some time before you try to get a grip of yourself. Itβs okay to be scared, but donβt let it cloud your judgement. Just give yourself some room, and after that try to calm yourself by bringing yourself into the present, and not thinking about the βWhat Ifsβ (because the future is on the list of things you cannot control)
I wish your granddad a speedy recovery from whatever he might have. And I hope youβre alright too.
Iβm here if youβd like to speak to me every step of the wayβ¦you donβt have to go through it alone <3
Hi, honey, iβm sorry youβre going through that. You need to realise that unfortunately you canβt do anything to help except to be with him and to stay safe yourself. Iβm sending you a hug. :(
