Everytime I decide to recovery for real, I feel all my mental illness’ symptons much more intense, until I give up on recovery and come back to my bad cope mechanisms. Is this a thing or just happens with me?

If you are strong enough to decide that you will recover, you are also strong enough to actually do it. You can do it and you must not be afraid to seek external help if that is what is required for your recovery. Good luck and remember that you’re not alone. :)
