I've constantly confused the feeling of being needed by someone with being in love with them. Now I think that loving someone has nothing to do with needing the other person. I now believe that being in love is having complete confidence that you don't NEED someone and that person doesn't NEED you, and yet you choose to share your life with them. Hello! Just wanted to vent here since I feel really embarrassed telling this to my friends (even close friends. I went to my friend's birthday party a while ago and before that, I bought him a gift. It was a cute and funny gift, and I thought that he would love it and we could laugh abt it. It was a funny looking sleeping mask that I think he could use as well, so I chose that as a gift. It was $3, please keep that in mind. So after buying the gift I went to his bday party and we ate dinner, and then it was time for him to open gifts. He opened other gifts and then it came down to my gift. He opened my gift then saw it's price (I completely forgot to take the price away, I didn't mean to offend him in any way I promise :(( ). When he saw the price of my gift, knowing it was so cheap, he whispered to a friend of his that was next to him. I heard what he whispered and he told his friend that I had the audacity to come to his birthday with a cheap gift. I'm not rich and my family is struggling financially at the moment, but he doesn't know this. He thinks I'm rich because I go to a private school but I'm not :((. So I do think it was an appropriate reaction considering he thinks I'm rich, but I bought him a cheap gift. I don't know, I just feel so ashamed and embarrassed because he told his friend Abt it
:((. Please give me advice, was his reaction appropriate or not :((( I just feel so ashamed right now I feel so bad for not being able to give him a good gift like what others gave him :((
