I had once compelled a friend to quit smoking because his mental health was getting affected due to the addiction. He used to smoke so as to block all the bad things for a while. I told him to talk out the problem or write it down to feel light and smoking was not a solution. It's been five months that he has come out clear. I am so proud of him.

My father has recently started drinking at night. While I am mostly in my room studying, he in the drawing room consumes alcohol pretending as if I don't know. Maybe it's not recent and I have discovered it a few weeks back. Currently, it's summer in India. Moreover, this isn't a festive season as well. I tried ignoring it thinking that probably it will be a mature manner to deal with this because I feel occasional drinking is not wrong and he has his own life. I am no one to question him. 
However, today I saw a big bottle of wine that's unlikely to be in our home. My mother died in 2021. I am afraid this may turn into a habit or is already a habit by now. I don't talk very often to him because he is busy using Insta or Whatsapp or talking to random women I have no idea about. I know but I pretend to know nothing because I have exams in Nov 22. The exams are important for my career and I have already invested a lot of time into preparation. Please suggest how should I deal with the situation. I am facing passive anger these days. Everything he do whether good or bad just annoys me. I stay quiet and don't react but day by day it's worrying me more and more.
