My parents are not letting me study what I actually wanna study and pressuring me to go for NEET I can clear it somehow but I don’t want to pursue a medical career 😭😭😭. They are like we know what’s best for u …okay I understand but atleast let me choose my career path atleast. They just say if I get good amount of money I’ll be happy and they also say that money can’t buy happiness 😭🙂💔. I don’t want to do this. I wish they tried to understand me.

Being a medical aspirant, I have explored the profession and the academics by watching videos and talking to medicos. I must tell you, it is not easy peasy as it seems. You do need the passion to be a doctor. 19 subjects, theory classes, practicals, postings, internship, chains of exams, neet pg, no social life, etc puts lots of pressure specially with the current healthcare and education system. It’s the worst. You will get scoldings for silly things and lot more. Yes, at the end the genuine smile of a patient thanking you from their heart would compensate everything but the journey is too tough and rough. So, please talk to your parents and tell them the harsh reality of this profession. They probably don’t know the reality but only know how doctors earn “so much money”. It doesn’t work like that. If you are not willing to study medicine and if you are not passionate about it, then I suggest you to not do it.
One thing you can do is prepare for whatever course you wanna study, do well in the exam and get a seat. And just fill up neet form and sit for the exam. Just sit and solve whatever you can and come back home. In that way, you might not do well and get a seat but your parents will be satisfied that you gave the exam and afterwards, happilu study the course you want to.

It’s like your parents want you to pursue mainstream medicine. If you want then you can for for psychiatry as your PG subject after mbbs. In case, you don’t know about it. But mbbs with NEXT and then neet pg journey is too much if you aren’t willing to go through all them which has more downs and very less ups.
Moreover, psychology is such a good subject. One of my high school close friend is studying psychology now from DU. Tell your parents how much of a need of an hour profession it is, specially after this pandemic, lockdowns and quarantine. It is overall an important profession with the changing lifestyle.
