My neighbour’s dog died recently. My cat used to get into a screaming contest with him. Today he was just staring quietly at the spot where they fought, not doing anything.
This made me realise the ability to grieve and express sadness is such a gift we have as humans. Most animals just have to carry the weight till they can remember.
