because he loves you to the extent that he doesn’t want to imagine you be with anyone else.

There can be two fundamental reasons:
1.) He might be fearful about his reaction that after knowing your past he might lose some fraction of love for you.
2.) He might not want to overburden himself with the expectations of how he should take care of your now, considering your past. He just wanted to be himself.
3.) He doesn’t care about your past. All he want to do is, live in present.
Whatever the reason is, it is okay not not share now. You can share it if he asks voluntarily.
