it is so difficult to accept that about your family that they can be backwards in their thinking or like they can be wrong or still has some old school ideas even when you act like you are so modern. my parents still prefer "son" and boy , and they don't say it directly but in small small things it is pretty clear that they choose my brother and not me. they dont see us as equals. 

So relatable... I agree there isn't equality even now...

I feel very bad for everyone who feels like this. Be successful and make them proud of who YOU are. Don't let this get in your way to success!

Relationships

lately I’ve been torn between my relationship and my family. It’s like my my mother can’t let me go and my significant other is tired of me not having time with them because I’m with my family majority of the time especially when I don’t want to be.

My family looks down upon my profession so much..
Subtle taunts and remarks about it here and there. 
I've long given up, I don't even try now, because there's nothing i can do about it, except, accept the reality. 
But it hurts, it hurts to see even those members of your family whom you thought understood you, mock you and make you feel bad about it.. 
It hurts because acceptance doesn't come easy..

It sucks when you respect others opinions but when it comes to our opinions in our own comfort why does culture, obeying, etc comes first? Family are the ones that make you feel depress and the first place to start depression

Depression

I have rage issues. I feel pathetic in my own house. My family gets on my nerves so much. I love them and couldn't do without them, but right now I just need to stay away from them. They bring out the worst in me. Otherwise I'm a very calm person. They keep disappointing me even after communicate to them about how much they've hurt me. Gaslighting me, every single time. And I feel like I'm very misunderstood in my own house. They think I'm selfish but they don't know what I do for them. I just don't like going around and boasting about it. I have so much trauma from the past because of their abusive parental methods that even though they're not like that anymore, I find myself projecting hate towards them now. I just need to get out, have my own freedom without them having to question everything.

Hi!! 
This is the first time I am saying this out loud. 
It's okay to not feel like home at home. It's okay to not love your immediate family. Yes, sometimes the people closest to you, the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally become the reason of your stress, your degrading mental health and and make you feel miserable. 
It's okay to detach yourself from a toxic environment. You are not a bad person to do it. Thinking about yourself first is not bad. Keeping yourself before others is not bad, loving yourself is not bad. 
It's okay. You are gonna be okay


In my family, everyone has their own problem. I always listen to them but when its my turn to express , they don't want to waste their time .May be its not their mistake....I am not worthy of being heard.......
