I’m unable to talk to my dad like everyone does. He hurt me a lot in my childhood. He was emotionally unavailable. But now he tries to talk to me but I don’t, I get irritated. I’m unable to talk to him, I am unable to open up to him. I only talk to him when I want him to buy something for me. I feel so bad . But I’m unable to do anything.

Try making peace with him for your sake if not for his. You don’t have to forgive him for being emotionally unavailable when you needed him, but allow yourself to build a bond with him. You deserve to have good bonds and relationships in your life. Try starting anew. Try as much as possible for you to move forward because you never know when time will be unkind. You’re rightly justified for feeling upset with his choices and decisions in the past and it’s okay to not forgive him. But giving him and yourself the grace to have a relationship will give you the closure you need.
He is trying, so there’s no harm in trying to build your relationship with him from scratch. Also, let’s take the worse scenario into account. If he doesn’t reciprocate your efforts, it would be perfectly justified for you to cut him off. You will get your peace and answers in both of the scenarios. Please don’t let yourself live in guilt believing you had the time but never tried to mend things.
