Well he rejected you. When you’re proposing someone don’t think the other person will always say YES. Well he might be looking something else in a girl. You might be the juiciest apple in the basket but there will always be someone who doesn’t like apples and prefers oranges. I’m not comparing you to fruits but hope you understood the analogy.
Example - You are interested in programming and you want a partner who is interested in the same so that you can have interesting conversation regarding coding. A guy who doesn’t like coding but has an excellent taste in literature proposes you. You reject him because you don’t know (and you’re not interested) in literature.
