I was in a relationship with a person for 2 years, was long distant relationship, i had been open about my diagnosis and how it affects me when we started talking and had also sent few articles about it, we recently broke and while we were having conversations about it he mentioned about how he realised how much it( mental illness)affected me and he realised he did not sign up for this and he wanted a relationship with a normal person who has their things sorted and he did not want to back off when he realised it out of sympathy, this is something that is bothering me alot, it was a situation i have been trying to avoid by being open about it and conversing about it. I don’t know how to deal with the emotions i am feeling

You did a very right thing about sharing it! It’s really important to share your feelings with your partner, and there’s nothing wrong to express them out! It is really on him how he took it or she took it. But on your side, you were being honest, which is great!
You will for sure find someone in your life who will be more understanding and will not consider mental illness as a problem, because it is not a problem. It is a state which stays with you/goes away with time, depending on situations. You are a normal person and focus on yourself, do not feel bad about him/her leaving you. Consider that as a positive thing that happened to you.
Takecare of you!
