I have a friend who is facing constant anxiety and has trouble sleeping. I’ve been in touch with him regularly and I listen when he has to talk.
But lately my mental health is doing good and when he pours out everything I feel too stressed and anxious.
I have been through what he is facing and I’m at a much better place than him. How do I tell him that I can’t listen to him for a few days as I start feeling low. He has been there for me always and I’ll feel guilty if I don’t be there for him……
You are not his therapist. He can’t expect you to always listen to his problems, especially if it makes you feel bad. I think you should tell him. If he respects you, he will respect your boundaries.
