I had just ended a relationship that i was in for three years and it hurts ya know. i didnt mean to hurt him but i didnt like how he was telling me that he was going to marry me. I am 16 yo and in high school. It’s a long shot but i keep wondering if i did the right thing. i hate myself for breaking his heart.

Because he says he wants to marry you, you ended things doesn’t seem right to me. You should have first sort things out about how you feel and your priorities and what he means by his words. If then the wavelength doesn’t match breakup was a good option.
I hope you tried this and broke up after that.
don’t be sad. You have all rights to decide who is right for you and who is not. If you just don’t like the way he is talking about marriage then try to say to him to not talk about that and say him something like that— If everything would work we will ne together but plz don’t say these frequently as that make me uncomfortable

Maybe he didn’t know how his words about marriage were affecting you, so it would be good to sit down and have a discussion about how you feel in any future problems with family members, friends, people you’re dating, etc. Otherwise, they might not know that their actions are negatively affecting you.
