Similar opinion. I find the notion too restrictive and principly unnecessary. I mean why the heck do I βhave toβ spend the rest of my life with one person? Isnβt that too big of a burden and playing a little too much with the risk? Sure a lot of them do last, and I love watching romcoms where itβs this fantastic and perfect little story. Who doesnt. But beyond that, a. Canβt it happen despite giving it the label and it being a norm, especially if you have so much faith? Thatβll remove problems like women having to be stuck in toxic relationships or continuing to be dependent on their partners. b. Even if it doesnβt happen for us, we wonβt feel the need to do it because of societal pressures and your peer circle.
On that note however, donβt you think itβs incredibly difficult though, given that our reality is diametrically opposite and we live in a place where marriage is the absolute norm and weβll see our friends inviting us to idk Hawaii or Goa in 4-5 years for their wedding, to not succumb to this pressure? Wonβt you eventually start looking for mates just so you can βsettle downβ? I mean wonβt the reality of it bust our little idealistic bubbles?
