Why it's tough to make friends and stay with them long?

I guess adulting is all about working,making money and stuff,,,I'm 18 and just started my college,my mom is a single parent and she's a High school teacher...it's not like we're financially pressurized but I still wanna support myself by making some money lately...🙂 But don't know how though....am I still young for these???
