@jiswanath

Hello,
Hope, everyone is safe and healthy. This is first time I am writing here about my thoughts. Have lots of thing to share. Feeling very low today, my heart is slowly sinking. I am an HR by profession but I always feel, I don’t have skill set to compete with other HR. Don’t have confidence to crack any job interview. Whenever, I think about my career, I can’t see myself doing anything significant in my life. Very quickly, I get scared of everything and start to panic. I always run away from the problems/difficulties rather than facing them. I always try to avoid them. I am the eldest Son of my family and have lots of responsibilities financially but I am clueless about how to move forward in my life. I always think of quitting my job and do something else but I have no Idea, what is that something else is. I get bored of everything. I think of doing business, opening my own HR Consultancies, start my Youtube Channel, Start a breakfast Centre etc. But, nothing lasts more than a day in my thought and the next day, I am again at the same place. I am very selfish by nature and calls my friends only when I am in need of something. Never valued a true friendship. My only motto is earning lots of money in life. I am married but at times in Depression, I think, I should leave everything job/family/home behind and go to a remote place where nobody knows me.
I am blessed with a very loving wife and parents and siblings who always supports me but I think of leaving them just to run away from the problems. It has been 5 years now that I am married but don’t have a child. Every month, I see the disappointment and sorrow on our faces of failing again and again but we both (my wife and I) always try to hide this feelings. Don’t know what to do…

Many people do not have a true calling and passion in their lives. Many even hate their jobs and waste their time making money to buy things they do not need. Analyse yourself. Why did you get into HR? Did you love it at some point? What has changed? Focus on any small things you like about it. Maybe you would like to pursue something else? Maybe studying something else too? Career changes can be painful but not impossible.

Making money is a priority of course but that can’t be your only life goal. You will be depressed and unfulfilled. Find happiness in small things, some good things are also free.

On the marriage; it is good you have been in a long relationship. Have you been to a doctor? You need to try to understand what is causing the issue. Perhaps one of you is infertile? Would you be willing to adopt? What would bring you joy in life?

Think about your life, talk to your wife, make decisions and be happy with your choices.

Take care!

@jiswanath

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we have consulted 3 doctors so far but none of them could find any problem. They say everything is normal.
About my career, I am still not able to understand why I choose HR. Knowing the current situation, I was about to quit my job but somehow survived. Now, I am focusing on my job and doing fine. But, I know my mood very well. I won’t be surprised if it swings again. My only problem is my lack of confidence.

Me again - I heard about people that get so stressed about wanting to conceive that inn fact this eliminates any chances. You both need to kind of forget about it and focus on other nice things and maybe at some point you can be surprised by the results. Even if HR is not ideal maybe try to branch into something else within that field…I think there are several career paths for HR people not only the general recruiting gig. It helps being born confident but it is also something you can develop.

@jiswanath

Thank You.
