Sharing Our Innermost Thoughts

Feeling demotivated. I struggle a lot with people around me that are very judgemental epecially my father. I am a young guy that’s into the concept of coming up with new business ideas but apparently my father never thinks they are good enough. His first reaction is never to at least tell me it’s a good idea, it’s to go straight into criticisms. It would be okay if that was how he is with everyone but I’ve seen stranger present ideas to him and the first thing he’ll say to them is, “I think that’s a tremendous idea” and then afterwards go into the criticisms. It always gets me depressed for about 2 weeks after he says it before my next idea comes to mind. About 7 years ago when I was a young kid I shared an idea with him and his response was, “That would never really work.” I believed him because I was a young kid and he was the “superior adult”, as he always told me. Last year during the midst of the pandemic someone else did my business idea and was very successful financially as a result. He then forwarded me the Forbes article on it and wrote, “Isn’t this such an amazing idea?” I sat there in shock and never mentioned it to him. I really struggle because as young man you always want some form of validation from your parent.
