Even though such social standards do not imply in my family but still there are so many families I know where patriarchy is practised excessively and it breaks my heart sometimes as to how the kids turn out under such teachings. One of my closest friend wanted to become an engineer and even cracked the IITJEE exam but her father humiliated her and said how dare you dream of this. Your place is in the kitchen to help mom with the house chores and then you will take care of your husband. It feels sad that I cannot do anything to help and now it’s getting worse day by day!
