‘Choosing literature will not only help me advance my career, but it was the only option I could come up with’

Is this grammatically correct?

It is not wrong, but maybe it can be improved…

For instance, it’s not true to say that literature won’t help you in your career advancement. So it may be better phrased as “… may not help me advance…”

Similarly, was it the only option that you could come up with, or the only option you wanted to take?
Both are 2 different meanings… :)
