If talking about a romantic partner and love, in that context there, love is a complex blend of positive emotions and I love you is an expression of it. There’s no such thing as fake true love. Like any human relationships this one has its clear terms and boundaries defined which two people keep pushing now and then which results into fights which is a good sign but when these boundaries are violated it gets uglier. Mutual respect is the base of love because if you don’t respect someone you can’t love them. Take any example love has to have respect that’s why many relationships don’t last long because they don’t keep a certain boundaries and mutual respect. Do everything kinky and all but then a gentle touch will only convey your love. And being there for each other. You laugh and cry and share things but as you know survival is a necessary criteria many relationships do not go long because of survival issues, here comes the role of what I mentioned above, “clear terms” which no one explains but those terms are there. If you can’t earn and pay bills and are socially strong and fit it won’t last long cuz as I mentioned love is a blend of complex emotions and nature of emotions is, it fades with time and opposite emotions get stronger by time according to “opponent process theory of emotion”, that is why relationships even of love is a high maintenance stuff only two efficient and caring and capable partners can do it. And no one is capable of innately but they become capable. That’s why it’s said, love makes you a better person.
