Being called smart has made my life so much more stressful. Now people compare there grades to me and just say stuff like “hey I got a higher score then her she’s not that smart huh.” Like I’m not smart I never said I was that what you all but on to me. Now I just so much pressure to be smart and get good grades because if I don’t I know everyone is going to make a scene. I feel like every one see me as a stereotypical nerd in a 80s movie someone who gets good grades, likes video game, wears glasses, and gets bullied. I have made it clear and I don’t like it and nothing happened. Of course the school doesn’t care and does nothing so does my parents. I feel trapped in a box.

In my school days I was facing similar situation. I slipped into inferiority complex which gradually lead to depression and it took almost two years to diagnose my depression. I had left my school due to poor mental health and ruined my studies. I used to think a lot over such things and get distressed and sometimes disappointed in myself as I believed I was not doing according to what was expected from me. So don’t let these things affect you. When we think about a think too much, we attract certain circumstances (according to the book ‘The Secret’, ‘As a man thinketh, ‘How to stop worrying and start living’ etc) so don’t give such things so much importance for at the end of the day nobody is going to live your life and work for your dreams, you are the one who has to do that. We don’t even know if these people will be there in our lives after 4-5 years. Stay with positive people and limit your conversation with negative people. Don’t let them know that it’s affecting you. Just be confident about yourself and accept your truth. Work hard for yourself and not to live upto someone’s expectations. After seven years I finally overcame my depression few years back. Ever since I have been working hard and scoring highest in my college. Now the only thing I care about is my career.
