Why canβt we be accepting of oneβs choices?
Because we donβt see from their eyesβ¦ Maybeβ¦
Aestheticgurrl @ssitwat
Could be, grass is always greener on the other side
bec we expect people to be how we want them to be! make the choices which we are in favour of, not the ones which make us uncomfortable
Aestheticgurrl @ssitwat
But donβt we have our own short falls and why do we have to judge people for what they believe in.
How can we get better at not judging?
yeskaype @yeskaype
Too many reasons, but I think the major one is we are afraid that someone elseβs choice will affect our choices. So, we fall back to out monkey instincts and pick up arms to fight
Aestheticgurrl @ssitwat
I think I can understand this, but how do you go about it?
yeskaype @yeskaype
Conversations without taking things too personal help a lot.
But for me it is movies. They cured my transphobia (phobia is fear in this context). And art in all consumable form help people understand without getting too offensive
Aestheticgurrl @ssitwat
Iβd like to know more about this art form usage for healing

Sorry for the length of this message π¬π
Okay. I never understood transgender people. I didnβt know why they are the way they are. I (an Indian 20+ boy) was groped and mugged inappropriately multiple times by some people of the community.
So, I watched a movie called Super Deluxe (on Netflix, originally a Tamil movie). And then I started studying gender on YouTube and Wikipedia.
Also, watched The Danish Girl (and fell in love with Eddie Redmayne) and really understood the struggle to the core.
Nobody couldβve explained it to me better, the struggle of gender dysphoria.
Too many mainstream movies (especially in India) portray caricatures. That is why accurate representation matters.

Interesting
yeskaype @yeskaype
Yeah. Thatβs how I understand what other people might be going through. And if this is not there, I wouldnβt be able to accept otherβs choices
Aestheticgurrl @ssitwat
Truee, I do that too. I imagine myself in their shoes and try to be there for them as I would have wanted someone for me
