You could read every single post about love and still collect red flags as trophies. You could mug up every rule about adulting, and still stand clueless at 30. You could pledge by every self-love quote, and still feel guilty for choosing yourself over others. And that’s okay.

That’s okay because we aren’t machines. We don’t learn by patterns and external information, we learn by experiences. So cut yourself some slack if you aren’t going by the book. You will figure it out in the coming chapters. Just like the rest of us.

Here are Self Love Habits that actually WORK!! Do them to promote positivity, self-belief, and empowerment:

☀Sunlight : Sunlight increases the hormone called Serotonin, that helps elevate moods, and can be useful in combating disorders like depression and seasonal affective disorders

👗Dressing UP : Dressing up can lead to increased confidence, because when you look good, you feel good. Even if you stay indoors, new clothing and tidy appearance is known to elevate mood and confidence levels

🤩 Emotional Health : A preference of "I'll do it myself" can lead to emotional exhaustion. Feeling emotionally strong and healthy is important to increase self-love towards yourself.

🕺🏻Stretching : Muscles tend to contract during stagnant jobs and lifestyles, simple 2-3 mins of stretching per day can help loosen up tight muscles, and reduce body aches

🎁 Box Breathing :B-4-E-4
find a quiet space to begin box breathing, place one hand on the chest and another on the lower stomach, this can help try to feel the air and see where it is entering, when breathing in focus on feeling an expansion in the stomach, but without forcing the muscles to push out, try to relax the muscles instead of engaging them.

Hold for 4 Seconds
Exhale out 
Hold for 4 Seconds. 
Repeat 10 times. 

💬 Talk to yourself More : You spend your entire life with yourself, making a good connection with the person you spend all your time with, being compassionate can help increase Self Love, and prevent a lot of mental health issues. 

🧿 Boundaries : Having strong boundaries is the best thing for your mental health that you can do. Having boundaries is about prioritizing your needs and respecting yourself before others. Remember, you cannot pour from an empty cup 

🪟Curtains : Sleep is an ever known important step, and a dark room is important to make sure you have uninterrupted sleep without waking up multiple times. This helps you recharge! 

🚶🏻Walks at the end of the day : This helps you to unwind your entire day, and give yourself a chance to debrief yourself from the stressors of the day

📵 Technology Break : We rely on technology to decide how we feel. A simple scroll after waking up in the morning leads to excessive dopamine dump, that can leave you feeling sluggish all throughout the day. Once a week technology break can give you the much required dopamine detox! 

👃🏻 Smelling Good : This can be a simple soap, shampoo,  body lotion or a perfume that helps you feeling fresh all throughout the day, elevating moods, as well as feeling more confident! 

🎶 Power of Music : Music reaches parts of the brain that otherwise would've been difficult to detangle. Listening to music, happy or sad, can help express emotions.

🎭 Reading Fiction before sleep : Reading something that interests you, can be a technique to remove technology for the last few hours of the day, and can knock you right to sleep once you're done reading. 

🧹 Cleaning : Clean Spaces can help you feel more organized, calmer, it's prettier to look at, and leave you feeling relaxed in your own personal space.

🛀🏻 Bath : Bathing is a sacred exercise that can help get rid of stagnant energy levels, that can help you create your own spirit

📞 Calling your friends : Talking to your friends can help you get a new perspective towards life, and also increase your social energy. We're not meant to live in isolation, and post Covid, it has become even more important to live amongst your loved one.
