I feel like my boyfriend and I don't communicate. I think I share all of my feelings and my thoughts because I think that is the most healthy. I am want to be completely open. He on the other hand either holds onto whatever he is thinking and will bring it up when I bring up something I do not like, or he will say he thinks/feels one way when in reality he feels another way. At this point, I'm sitting here in the dark not knowing what's going on in his head. My mind is jumping from place to place. We have talked so many times about effective communication but it never happens. What should I do?

3am Thoughts

I've always avoided thinking/admitting about things that hurt me because I'd think I'm being dramatic + there's people who has it way worse. I hope it's alright I express my own problems though.

I'm in an asian household, it's the typical get good grades and future pep talks. I make an effort to always think positive and say that I can make it, trying to avoid the fear. But this message isn't about my education, it's my parents.

I love them. Hope that I'd make them proud. I can't say we have a bad relationship. It's good, it's normal and average. But they don't know that their words really hurt sometimes, especially when you're making an effort but they claim the opposite and don't appreciate them at all. They'd view you as a disobedient,rude child who doesn't know what to do with their life. 

I love them and think they're right since they're the parent. Mostly they are right but sometimes I think twice. I avoid thinking they're wrong when sometimes they are wrong because I think it's right for me to back down. It's driving me crazy. Torn between being a good daughter that doesn't think of her parents badly even just a little bit and a daughter who doesn't want to get hurt by her parent's words when they call her a failure, rude kid who can't be like other successful children. 

Sometimes I don't even know what I'm exactly doing or for what reason I'm doing something anymore.

But then again, I might be  being over dramatic, but even if I am, it's okay to talk about it since its kinda been hurting my heart for some years now, right..?
