He is not playing hard it just means he is not into you.
Like you want him if he also wants you the same way he would have been putting efforts start distracting yourself and pay attention to your ownlife. Believe me this can become toxic and you are giving pain to yourself for no reason. If he is your friend and was interested in you he would not have been behaving this way :)
