So , just took an online screening test that pretty much mentions i might have moderate to severe depression ???
How do you seek help stuck in a typical indian household where you are too afraid to let your feelings out ?
Also , how to find motivation to do things i previously used to enjoy ? I’m always tired and Endlessly procrastinate basic tasks ! A distraction from my thoughts would work i think !
HELP !!

Hey!
That’s great if you are ready to seek help.
•The way I did was make that one person of your family who understands mental health the most (my case it was my mom and sister)
•then ask them how you feel and be clear.(I wrote a whole essay but it was waste as I started crying 😂)
• now tell them you need to seek help because this is getting worst. Let them know that you seriously need help rn
(My mom here agreed to seek me to a therapist)
• but if this doesn’t work try to go out you do seek help( a little lie that help you won’t hurt anybody)

I was in the same situation. And people think going to a therapist is madness. First thing first. Confide ur feelings in the most trusted person u have, be it any frnd, colleague, relative, family anyone. U need to talk about it. And if u cant try and record all the stuff. Just let it out. I love to dance but I stopped. Right now, I dance ,move when I m making chai or doing some stuff… make time for urself even it means 5 mins of sitting in the chair and breathing. U are a person who is so well taking all the responsibilities, doing everything. U r strong. U just need time for urself. If possible go for a walk, see the nature. Abhi to possible nahi lockdown me. But yeah do yoga exercise whatever. It doesn’t mean u need 1 hour. Just start with small steps. 5 mins then 10. Automatically u will feel better. Eat what u like. Whatever ur hobbies are if u cant do them right now due to covid situation, read or watch their posts and videos. Keep urself motivated through different things. Depression in such situation is due to lack of communication. Do call different people everyday even if for 2 mins. Kisi ko bhi. Just talk anything. If u have 20 people to call. One month will pass by. Like that u will learn to communicate more. And lastly we are here. To talk

Hey,
hope you and your family are doing fine.
firstly, online screenings are not the correct go-to. there are so many fake/false online screenings…so don’t trust that.
second of all, if you think you need help try to explain the importance of mental health to your parent/family and convince them to let you go ahead with it. if they are not agreeing with you then I think you need to figure out a way but not just let it be…okay? I have seen a lot of people who go to therapy without telling their families…and that’s okay too!
lastly, procrastination is a bummer I agree…but think of all the things that you want in your life and what all you need to do to have them. try making a to-do list with a time limit for each task. try to organize your day better but also remember to give yourself breaks.
