Okk its me. I am 18 years old college girl. I live in hostel with my two roommates, one of them is from my school and now we are really good friends. I don’t know how to say this but whenever she study I can’t focus on my study. I always think that I can’t be better than her. Whenever I try to study and if she’s also studying I think that I can’t understand things the way she can. I feel like I am so bad person to compare myself with her. I am trying to overcome this. But it’s not happening. It’s my exams time and I can’t focus on my study and I am so stressed. Plzz help me that how I can control this all situation. I don’t know maybe for you it seems not a big problem but for me it is a big problem. Plzzz help me!!

I think you should stop comparing yourself with her and as it is you exams you shall have to stay away from her for some time atleast until exams are over

No, I can’t do that cause she is my friend and i don’t have any problem with her. It’s not her problem it’s mine so i should be the one to solve this. I am trying nowadays to be a better person. Btw thank you so much for thinking about me

See if you think someone’s doing better than you, think of it as an opportunity to learn from them. Comparison with others is unhealthy for you and for your friend too. If these emotions persist it’ll just get you down, don’t compare yourself with anyone stop having this race of getting better from anyone else. Its you that’s your competition. Don’t ruin a friendship because you’re insecure about someone doing better. It’s okay there are thousands of people who are better than us and thousands who are not as good at things as we are but that does not make them foolish. It’s just that each person has his/her own forte.

It’s not foolishness, it’s just that sometimes emotions can be overwhelming and we are humans. But to get over it is what we need to do. You’ll be doing fine soon don’t worry angel you’ll get over this phase.

Intellectually: You are fighting too much with trying not to compare. Due to this infight you are giving this comparison more energy. Accept you are comparing if your mind is saying that you are not as good tell it ok that is your suggestion thank you, know let me study poorly but study. Slowly comparison will drop.
Physically: Discuss your strongest subject or area with her as if not understanding and see her understanding this will give your mind factual information to counter your imaginary beliefs( Don’t do this to demean anyone just as a especial in this case) and overcome stress.
