My sister recently told me something that was a bit disturbing but also I felt like sharing here because I feel a lot of us here suffer from mental illness and need to know the hard truth that it greatly affects us and those around us. So there was this girl who was gay, was with her girlfriend for almost 10 years, when the girlfriend cheated on her for a man and eventually left her. Obviously this broke her heart and she went spiraling down the rabbit hole of worthlessness. We can only imagine the pain she felt. Anyone who’s been through a breakup - including myself, knows that it’s a devastating pain, but to be cheated is to yet further the knife to the heart. She couldn’t cope. She didn’t let herself grieve. Instead, her rash action and impulsiveness gave to taking her life (in front of her ex). The reason I share this is because I recall feeling like this when my breakup happened. You don’t want a reason. You feel so pathetic and blame yourself completely. You cry and it seems like the pain will never go away. But it does. It just takes time. With time, things start to slowly but surely get better. You start seeing things differently. Why it didn’t work and that it wasn’t meant to be. And who knows, something better on the way. But patience will be key in this. Don’t act on impulse. You hurt people around you this way. That girl’s family and friends will always blame themselves. It will be okay once the dust settles and your mind calms down. Focus on you and regain your strength. Everything will be okay.
