Is it okay to tell about your current CTC in an interview.
If not then how to revert to that question when interviewer asked for it?

Earlier I had answered that question with exact CTC and also have informed them about my expected CTC but they started negotiating ki we are slightly low on budget and can you please reconsider. I know what is the CTC as per the market standard for that post so I am thinking this time I should not tell them and give some better diplomatic answer instead.

Reply that’s confidential and personal and you are not comfortable sharing that information…and be strong on that point

I know this can get pretty tricky. However, I lead this question with my own research and suggest to the HR that - market rate for this position is Rs X and per Glassdoor/Ambition Box records people in my position are already earning an average of Rs Y which is what I am looking to get.

Now the recruiter knows that you have done your research, you sound more confident about what you want, and the recruiter will find it difficult to lowball you with a poor offer.
