I’m embarassed to even talk about this because it will most likely sound as a dumb issue. I’ve had social anxiety for the past 2 or 3 years. It started very badly to the point where I was avoiding to go out as much as possible because I kept thinking everyone around me judges me as being ugly( it’s the most common insult I have been told for a period of 3 years, but before the time my anxiety started). Thankfully the issue of avoiding to go out has been solved pretty much by simply time passing and me realizing I am actually not a bad person, and overall my life getting better. However… getting to what I started this topic with, the big problem. I have an unusual shame to ask for anything at a store. Like any type of store, fast food, etc. I usually put my friends/ my parents to do it for me, but I am getting sick of it and I want to do it alone too, but the thought of: What if the people around me at that store think something bad of me? or What if I will sound weird or something when I will try to say anything? . This is pretty much my only issue standing in my way back to becoming the normal person I was. [Before my anxiety started I was actually doing this with no problem, but I assume that getting overloaded insults has ‘broken’ me]. If you have any idea of how I could get rid of this, do not hesitate to answer. Thanks in advance.

Hi.

I have been through something similar.

I used to avoid all of my interaction possible with strangers, even in a supermarket, fastfood joint and even to my security.

But when you get to know that all the humans out there are not lions to eat you up even if you ask for something wrong, you can even ask for a condom loudly.

The taboo of being insulted starts only when you allow, entertain and accept a person’s thought about you and process it in your brain.

There is no person in this world who know how to live perfectly.

Remeber, people who value you don’t hurt you by words.

Only people whom you care about without receive the same can hurt you.

You are living in a society which accepts all the lies and flaws happening around them every second and thought pretend to be deaf, dumb and blind.

All of them can only show their power of words towards a kind heart.

So let your heart be kind for the true one who care for you. And not those who judge you only by your actions.
