I feel you on that. My dad thing’s the same way about me, I feel like he doesn’t want me to be successful so that he can see himself in me and feel better. It sucks when people don’t believe in you and it says more about them actually. You want to go to college, then, just go. Prove yourself to them, actually don’t bc you don’t need their approval. Just do what makes u happy and you think it’s best, prove yourself to you. A parent should always want their kid to be successful, some are just too insecure, but it makes no sense. Usually, parents want their kid to be smart and successful, get good grades, go to college… and there’s a reason for that, now, that can also be harmful but they usually just want the best life they can get for you and it has no bad intentions, they want you to have a good job and be financially stable. Who wouldn’t want that, it makes me so mad some parents are actually like this. Don’t listen to them, going to college is a good thing, if you like it ofc, it opens a lot of doors for you, don’t let them close them. You pave ur own way.
