I literally cried today…
I’m a MBA graduate last year in October and now find myself jobless due to no campus placement due to Covid and almost no companies are hiring…I apply in almost 10 companies daily for last 3 months now still no response, I want to go in the field of Finance but all I get offers from sales which I really not interested in, got offer from byjus which pays alot but for me I feel that company is not right for me as I think it only cheats students and their parents…
Now I find myself in a state that I can’t explain, literally tried everything still worthless…
I’m from a lower middle class family, and always dreamed of having a good house a car but I don’t think it will ever be possible now…
I’m still getting over from my previous problem and now this unemployment is getting over me.

I hear how painful that is through your words. I also know a bit about how that might feel because I too have been there. I struggled with that and I got through it. I know you will, too. There is hope.

Are you willing to spend time perhaps in cross skilling? Or are your circumstances such that you need to find work ASAP?

@anonymous2426

I need a job Asap as I’m already going turn 24 in few months and I have to pay my education loan…

Fair enough. Before anything is suggested… could you walk me thru “how” you went about looking for a job?

1. Did you use Online job portals?

2. Did you go thru recruitment agents?

3. Job focused Social Media platforms?

And pretty much anything else you can think of in terms of your job hunt?

@anonymous2426

I visit companies career sites and look for job openings and drop my resume.
Other ways that I use are indeed,naukri.com, LinkedIn…

Ok. A few suggestions that may help…

1. Try and have your resume looked at by someone to see if it’s matching the keywords that the particular job post is asking for. Trying the shotgun approach in this pandemic is not a great idea. Shotgun approach means using one standard resume template and sending it to over 20 or even 100 companies. This very rarely yields results from my past experience.

2. After you’ve had your resume looked at, most job profiles have a contact number of the recruiter or even hiring person. Contact them always first and build a friendly rapport with them by asking how they are along with their family and work your way thru that conversation by asking about the job opening. Why does this work mostly?

It’s because you’re resume is no longer a “profile” to be viewed and chucked… but rather a brief connection was formed with that person and even though it may be temporary, they will remember you. When the resume is sent after the conversation, always ensure in your emails to them that you remind them of when you spoke to them (only once… because if you do it over and over it can become annoying for them).

3. I heard the actor Sonu Sood did alot of work for people out of work from almost all sectors all over India. I was unable to find his foundation related information… but did find the below website which is his:

https://www.goodworker.in/

That website itself has a few openings and would recommend being flexible keeping your circumstances in mind. You can also contact them first and ask for additional pathways that they may be able to advise. Who knows… you just might end up working for them or they can assist with your job hunt further.

4. LinkedIn - Do not underestimate the power of this platform. Please use this wisely as you are dealing with real people and it can in it’s own way also yield results.

I know the suggestions are a bit lengthy and time consuming to follow thru… but mark my words on points 1, 2 & 4. Time and again, those job hunting principles have saved me many times. I wish you best of luck and let us know how it goes.

We’re here for you.

Hey!
Everyone is facing what you are going through. Just chill, on that part.
There aren’t fewer companies but many who are hiring for different profiles. You maybe aren’t able to grab it from everywhere.
In my knowledge, for Finance it’s comparatively less but still there. I know about reputed companies which are offering it and you being an MBA graduate will be given preference. Check out for BIG4 Companies
Also, Byju doesn’t fake, it’s a good brand name and would have made you gain experience. But, again it’s your choice at the end of the day.
I hope you are searching aggressively from different platforms and applying to every company you come across even if it’s not very branded.

Some of my personal recommendations if you haven’t already -
1. Instagram: Search keywords like ‘Job’, ‘MBA Fresher’, ‘Graduate Jobs’ etc
2. LinkedIn: Keep ‘Open to Work’ open and again Search certain keywords in this same option and every day you will receive updates | Connect to potential people and ask them if there is/will be any job opening
3. Referrals: They are the most hassle-free medium if you get referred by your known ones
4. Internshala: Good amount of opportunities

Lastly, all of this will work in your favor only if your CV/Resume is up to mark. The right verbs/keywords/sentence formation etc make it a good or bad one! If you haven’t or it did and it’s been long since then, update and make it cross-check with some professional people who are certified into this field of resume building. Again, LinkedIn could be your help and Google.

All the best!!🤝💜
