I like someone and I think he likes me back, but then I have a second thought due to his actions that what if what is him driving is lust, I am just so not sure, he manipulates and gives diplomatic answers pretty often.

It’s quite common. Better make sure if he likes you or not. To do so, you can try flirting with him and make him confess. If it is successful in first try then try to stop his advancement. Try to test his Patience. If he can have patience for 1-3 years of not getting intimate with you then it’s almost like a green signal. But between this gap if he ever flirt with other person, or cheat or have sex. Then I would advise you to stay away from him as if he can do it once then he can do it twice.
