You should respect his decision and try to know why he don’t wanna be in relationship… You can be a good true friend to him:)
I know the reason and we get along great without taking it out but I feel that’s not how things are supposed to be

Hey you can give your friendship some time and ask him directly for marriage after some years or so till then you can stay friends respecting his promise to his parents:)
I do respect his decision infact that’s rare but he gets afraid ignores me and then too is always the first person ready to do anything for me

im in the same situation, i said i couldn’t be friends. we parted ways. im not so fine though, i miss him. but being with him just drained me of all my mental peace coz knowing the fact that we like each other but couldn’t be in a relationship, i just couldn’t talk to him anymore like a friend. i hope he comes back, but now im concentrating on myself, doing things i like. hope for the best<3. love to you<3
