He lied about his fathers death after our breakup to may for sympathy… but he apologised … saying he regret doing that… cos he just wanted to talk to me he was feeling suicidal. And wished he could tell me face to face and not on the phone … cos may be i would ghost him …

Depends on the level of love you have for that person, everything depends on love the more you love them, the more you break and bend the rules.

See reasons can be any for the break up so what you thought that time that was right according to you that’s why you did the breakup, just coz he didn’t have the job you dumbed him that doesn’t make any sense if the person is not proper condition then you leave him and when the things are right you go back to them?
