Whatever you resist persists.
To add to that, each experience is resistance in itself. We realize that every experience is happening on its own and that we get hooked to it. Thus, nothing is causing anything and it’s our addiction to experiencing which causes us to be attached or averse to it. Being attached to a good feeling means we are averse to its opposite. So we experience the opposite and it’s a never-ending cycle :)
The way out of this is to identify with the ultimate context and not the content. To identify with witnessing rather than the experiencer.
