Can anyone tell me " Why we should maintain eye contact when we speak with someone?" I mean i do that whenever i have a conversation with someone. But i am not aware of the reason.

If you don’t make eye contact and talk then how will you know his/her expression and whether they are understanding or not what other person is telling.
So it’s good to make eye contact

I hate that not maintaining eye contact is seen as rude by some people. It makes me feel so uncomfortable, like we are staring into eachothers souls. And sometimes I’m painfully aware of it so I start thinking like, "which eye should I look at? Am I blinking too fast? What if they think my eyes are ugly? Now I’m not blinking and my eyes hurt. Am I breathing too quick? When is it ok to look away? Do my eyebrows look weird? Should I look at both eyes periodically? What if they judge me for not waxing/shaving my eyebrows? Are my eyebrows fat? Why do we look at eyes? Can they tell I haven’t slept recently? " I usually end up missing a lot of what the other person says.
