My work goes on till 9pm in the night. Scheduled hours are till 6pm. Even though i enjoy my work, but it gets mentally taxing. What’s the way out? How shall I communicate this to my boss? Is it normal to work extra hours?
Shaifila @shaifila_ladhani
Hi Shivam! It is completely normal to feel mentally taxed after work even when you love your job, i would say, it happens especially when you love your job!
Some overtones are normal, but know that this is a favor you do to the organisation. It is an organisation’s responsibility to divide and employ people so that everybody has access to their own time and have space to take breaks.
A good way to communicate is to maybe just sit with your boss and explain to them what it is you’re going through. You can give them some time to find the appropriate resources for you but it has to be based on mutual respect of this boundary. It’s not okay to expect one to work for such long hours! I hope your boss is understanding and helps you through this :)
If I am delaying this one task again and again, what can I do that I complete it on time everyday?
Shaifila @shaifila_ladhani
Sadly there is no one size fits all solution to this but what works for me personally is to divide it in smaller chunks and do just a little bit every day.
What works for a friend of mine is to delegate the task to someone else haha.
But we often procrastinate for a reason, maybe finding that reason will make it easier for you to find the motivation to work :)
so can i ask any question?
