It was actually his insecurity that planted the idea in your head that maybe you like his friend and this happens a lot because a friend always respects his friends gf a lot .and so maybe you compared the way your bf treated you and how his friend treated you. But believe me you have made a mess of you mind so the best thing is to not get emotionally attached to anyone and also make this clear to your new bf that you guys will only have fun and nothing serious.
